Three-Day PAF Reading Workshop

Wed, Oct 21 - Wed, Nov 4 9:00AM

The PAF Reading Program workshop uses a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, teaching videos, modeling, lesson planning, questioning, analyzing student work, and reflection. Our course facilitators, Dee McKechnie and Cara Jordan, first present an overview of multisensory instruction for teaching reading, spelling and handwriting based on the science of reading.

After an overview of the PAF scope and sequence, the course then delves into the 5 components of the daily reading lesson, (1) review, (2) introduction of new material, (3) spelling dictation, (4) reading, and (5) reinforcement. The course supports teacher development by including relevant research for each part of the lesson along with the practical application of this knowledge. Additionally, participants are given the opportunity to plan and implement different parts of the lesson with direct feedback from the course instructors. Participants will also see PAF lessons in action at the Shefa School as part of the course.
